Safety

At AUI, Safety is our first priority. We know that within the construction industry there is an increased amount of opportunities for something to go wrong—whether it is damage to equipment, facilities, or natural resources. We recognize that most accidents and injuries can be prevented, so we take extensive steps to promote safety awareness, which includes, but is not limited to, “toolbox talks” on site, safety inspections, and safety education courses, as well as safety compliance initiatives.

We always strive to comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations on federal, state, and local levels. The following are just a few examples of how we consistently commit ourselves daily to health, safety, and environmental compliance:

  • We employ one full-time Safety Manager, four full-time Safety Technicians, and one full-time Construction Safety Administrator
  • We offer and provide safety courses to all of our employees; all training is provided by AUI Safety personnel who have completed a Safety Training Program at TEEX and are certified safety and health officials
  • We often engage city- and county-level environmental and safety officials to review company policies and procedures to help us ensure that our practices are the best they can be
  • We work with our insurance carriers and their loss prevention experts to ensure that our Workman’s Compensation Insurance Modifier is rated at one or less
  • We stay abreast of the safety programs promoted by the Association of General Contractors (AGC/Quoin) and other organizations so we can continually upgrade our processes and procedures to meet or exceed those established by construction industry leaders
  • Our employees and management team accept and share the responsibility for fostering safe work practices and a sincere concern for our fellow workers, other contractors, subcontractors, and the cities and counties in which we live, work, and play
